George R. Cather scholarship letter
This collection contains a letter to the Orphans Court of Cecil County, Maryland recommending George R. Cather for placement as a student to Washington College. The letter is signed by seven individuals including Robert Cather. George R. appears in the 1854-1855 catalog’s list of students at Washington College. Due to two fires at the College his exact graduation date is unknown, but presumably 1858.
George W. Powell notebook and reminiscences
This collection contains George W. Powell’s junior surveying class notebook taught by Professor J. S. William Jones. As well as correspondence with Dean of Men, Charles B. Clark regarding his time at Washington College and a reminiscence of faculty, the campus, and classes.
George W. Woodfield, class of 1929, Pegasus negatives
This collection contains fifty-one negatives taken by George W. Woodfield when he served as the photographic editor of the Pegasus during his senior year at Washington College. Many of the photographs are featured throughout the 1929 yearbook.
Harry V. Holloway, class of 1895, Washington College reminiscences
History notebook
This collection contains an unidentified student’s notebook while they attended Washington College circa 1790. The book lists historical events starting with 4004 B.C. to 476 A.D. Many of the early historical events are taken from Biblical history. There is also a list of Roman Emperors at that end of the notebook.
Hopewell H. Barroll papers
This collection contains correspondence with Hopewell H. Barroll. Some request letters of recommendation for various positions with Washington College, one regards an honorary degree from Dickinson College for Thomas S. Hodson. Includes commencement materials for Yale and Washington College. There are also legal papers related to Barroll’s work as a lawyer.

James Roy Micou diary
This collection contains a diary kept by James Roy Micou for the year 1885. During this time Micou lived in Petersburg, Virginia and married Catherine Roberta Morrison. The diary was commercially produced, The Emerson Birthday Book: Illustrated.
